How I started

I started researching my family lines to see where they came from, and how my parents have come to California. My Dad's folks were from Oklahoma and Arkansas mainly. And my Mom's parents last lived in Texas. But I found there was more to this. It has been an interesting journey and it is far from over.

My mother's dad was from Indiana, and we were always told as children, my sister and I that his family was from Germany. It had fascinated me at the time, because Germany was a far away country to me, as a little girl. Of course after I had visit and lived in Germany, it became more real to me. But it still awe me. The castles, the beautiful countryside. So after many years of thinking of searching for family roots, I finally decided to enter the unknown. Some of my surnames included, Morris, Threet, Jeffers, Malone, Edwards, Scaggs, Prather, and of course David and Frost. The main lines that I am searching.

It all started with my computer. I am a real homebody, so I didn't get to the library to try any searching there. I started by going to various sites, like Ancestry, especially the forums. Which was actually a very smart thing to do. I started my search in the forums under the surnames I was working on. Than I started reading the messages left by other researchers. I came across a few messages that had the same familiar names in my family. Being somewhat shy, I was at first apprehensive about emailing some of these kind people. But I did. And I was so glad that I did. I found several distant and not so distant relatives. I shared information that I had on my end, and they shared information on what they had on theirs.

It has been an exciting process so far. I hope to add on an article or story every week or so, or when the urge to type is upon me. Please enjoy the links to the sites on the left. They are really great. And sign my Guestbook if you wish, would love to have some feedback.

Sincerely, Lorna David
